The rambutan, or nephelium, is an exotic fruit native to Asia that is now found in warm regions around the world. It belongs to the same family as the lychee and is also known as "hairy lychee." In Central America, it is known as "mamón chino." It is a sweet fruit, very pleasant to the palate, with a consistency similar to that of grapes.
